How can Rabbit and his friends Squirrel and Racoon survive the winter with no food?

When Rabbit is caught in a net, an unknown voice gives Rabbit a message to find help deep in the woods behind a waterfall. A mysterious figure in a hooded robe waits there to reveal a wonderful secret that will save Rabbit and his friends. Bravery and teamwork make for a happy ending. Only Rabbit ever knows the secret and, of course, the reader. Kindergartners through third graders should find it exciting to discover the secret too. The last page has a fun song that sums up the story.

Ann Dickerson has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Southern Miss and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Mississippi College. She taught English before her children were born. Halloween Magic began in the early 2000s as letters in installments mailed to out of state grandchildren. For the grandchildren living in the Jackson area, she visited their kindergarten class and presented the story with props. The story reflects Ann’s own fond childhood memories when Halloween was a simpler, more innocent time for children. She finds that as a story develops, it seems to write itself, making it fun see where the ideas lead. Ann likes playing the piano, attending music concerts, reading, traveling, entertaining, making new friends, and of course, decorating for Halloween. It is her dream come true to see Halloween Magic now a published book.

Annie Furr is a part-time mixed-media illustrator and full-time mom from Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Ever since childhood, Annie has loved to draw and when asked “What are you going to be when you grow up?”, the answer was “An artist!”. It wasn’t until about 3 years ago that she truly realized that her love for storytelling combined with her art was best expressed in children’s illustration, and she was excited to have the opportunity to work on Halloween Magic. Annie loves her home in the country, being active in her church, learning Spanish, running her small art business, and teaching her three children everyday as a homeschool mom. Painting the pictures for Halloween Magic was pure joy, and she hopes it is just the beginning of many more illustrated books to come!
