Description
Oxford, MS: Cofield Press (2017)
"Even if you have never been to Oxford, Mississippi, you'll enjoy the universal appeal of the people and stories published herein. More importantly, this is a book about Oxford that those of us who know it well will deeply appreciate, for the Cofields have brought to life - lovingly and artfully, in pictures and in words - a generous glimpse of Oxford's unique history and character."
- Richard Howorth
"For nearly 90 years, successive generations of the Cofield family have preserved photographic scenes of Oxford, now collected in an impressive book. As 'old Oxford' gives way to dramatic growth, the pictures John Cofield has assembled provide an affectionate look-back at William Faulkner, the Square, the filming of 'Intruder in the Dust,' legendary local personalities and long-lost businesses - frozen in time for everyone enchanted by the unique town to enjoy."
- Curtis Wilkie
JOHN B. COFIELD
grew up in Oxford, Mississippi. He is a writer for HottyToddy.com and one of Oxford's leading folk historians. John is the son of renowned university photographer, Jack Cofield. His grandfather, J. R. "Colonel" Cofield, was William Faulkner's personal photographer, and for decades was the Old Miss annual photographer.
