William Lester was born in Collierville, TN in 1948. After graduating from Murrah High School in Jackson, MS, he attended the University of Mississippi and graduated with a BS in business and an MFA in Sculpture. His teaching career was at Delta State University where he taught in the Art Department for thirty-eight years and retired as Professor Emeritus. Currently he is Executive Director of the Dockery Farms Foundation, the birthplace of the blues.
