Kendall Smith transparently shares his fifty-year career in the office products and contract furniture industry, which ultimately led to his ownership of a ten-million-dollar company.

In vivid detail he describes the immediate realization of the insurmountable debt that he and his partner had incurred, and the ensuing decade of battling financial hurdles, betrayal by former employees, and cheating competitors. Ultimately, he was forgiven of a TWO MILLION DOLLAR personal guarantee and his debt was erased.

Smith shares his realization of the correlation of the business debt forgiveness with the cancellation of his sin debt that was provided by Jesus and His death on the Cross. Readers will be inspired by his story of growing up in mid-town Jackson to one day becoming co-owner of a “Top 100” privately held Mississippi business, and the life lessons he learned on the journey.

Kendall Smith is a native of Jackson. He and his wife have resided near downtown Brandon for over 30 years. He is a graduate of Jackson Central High School and Mississippi State University. He is celebrating his 50th anniversary with Barefield & Company, (now known as Workplace Solutions.) He began his career working in the office supply stock room filling orders and unloading trucks. He moved to outside sales, Director of Sales, VP of Sales and Marketing, and ultimately purchased the Company in 1996 with a partner and served as President for nearly a decade. The Company grew to be included as one of Mississippi’s “Top 100” Privately Held Companies in the late 90’s. Upon selling the Company in 2004, he remained as President of the Office Products Division and continues to serve in sales management with major accounts, governmental relations, and identifying and negotiating acquisition opportunities. He has served as a football official for the Mid-South Association of Independent Schools for over 40 years, having called on the field for 35 years and now serves as a game clock operator. He and his wife, Sheila, are long-time members of First Baptist-Jackson, where he served as Chairman of Deacons, has taught an adult Sunday school class for nearly 40 years, and they are active participants in the Worship Choir. They have two married daughters and are proud of their five grandchildren.
