New in dust jacket.
When a humanitarian group from Georgia called Green Hope visits a poor and oppressed region of the Sudan in 1999, plans are made to bring a young Sudanese woman named Nameera back to the U.S. and a better life.
But when a group of militant teens attack the village of Bilina where Nameera’s family lives and burn it to the ground, it appears that Nameera’s dream of going to America is over. Sadly, so is her budding romance with Sam, a Green Hope volunteer.
Twenty years later, a Christian missionary group from New Orleans returns to the Sudanese village of Naifa, where this time plans are made to return to the U.S. with Talia, the daughter of Nameera. Once again, though, heartbreak is on the horizon, as intimidating terrorists plot to kidnap the beautiful young woman. This militant group is led by none other than Boro Khalid, whose young army of misfits kept Nameera from escaping two decades earlier. Boro, now wealthy and powerful after years of profiting from sex trafficking and terror, is obsessed with Talia and launches a dastardly kidnapping plot to keep her for himself.
Will Talia escape the Sudan, make the journey to America, and finally be free of her tormentor? Or will Boro get what he most fervently desires?
