Renowned short story writer Eudora Welty is explored through intimate and
charming interviews, both with Eudora herself and with family and friends. Seen

adventure, daring, humor and love as we meet a writer we only thought we knew.
AMY BRYANT THAXTON is the Executive Director of the Institute for Southern
Storytelling at Mississippi College where she graduated cum laude and was
awarded the Sigma Tau Delta English award. Amy assisted with research and
wrote a K-12 teaching curriculum to accompany the Walter Anderson: The
Extraordinary Life and Art of The Islander documentary. She also served as one of
the book’s editors. Amy’s love for literature makes her role critical in the research
and production of the film Eudora. Amy led the research which produced this
book and it’s accompanying film, Eudora. Amy has taught Welty on both the
secondary and collegiate level.
ANTHONY THAXTON has won awards as a writer, painter, educator, television
director, and filmmaker. He was named the 2019 Distinguished Art Alumnus of
the Year for Mississippi College. Thaxton’s art has been featured in magazines
and books, including Love Letters: An Illustrated Courtship and his photographs
and videos have been shown on Good Morning America, FOX & Friends, and
CNN.com, He wrote, directed, filmed, and edited the Palate to Palette television
series (five seasons seen on pbs.org). He filmed, directed and edited Walter
Anderson: The Extraordinary Life and Art of The Islander (for which he won a
regional Emmy for Outstanding Historical Documentary) and co-authored and
designed the companion book for the film. He is the co-founder of the Institute
for Southern Storytelling at Mississippi College where he now produces
television programs and films while mentoring young storytellers of the future.
ROBERT ST. JOHN is the author of thirteen books and owns numerous
restaurants in Mississippi. For twenty years, St. John has written a weekly
syndicated newspaper column and has been named Mississippi’s top chef
numerous years. St. John is also the creator, producer, and co-host of the public
television series Palate to Palette. He founded Extra Table, a nonprofit
organization providing healthy food to Mississippi soup kitchens and pantries.
He is a founding member of the Independent Restaurant Coalition and was an
integral part of a small group that recently secured $28.6 billion in grants to aid
independent restaurants affected by the COVID crisis. He produced the
acclaimed documentary Walter Anderson: The Extraordinary Life and Art of
The Islander (for which he won a regional Emmy) and co-authored the
companion book. He is a co-founder of the Institute for Southern Storytelling at
Mississippi College. He and his wife, Jill, have two children, Holleman and
Harrison.
